Cell phone ettiquete

I am a huge fan of the cell phone. My husband and I, like many people our age, dont even have a land line in our house because why pay for a service we already have with our cells? However, I also believe there are appropriate times and places to talk on cell phones; just because you can talk anywhere, doesnt mean you should...

For example, a quick "I'm on my way home, see you in 10 min" call from a crowded bus, perfectly acceptable. A "Hey, how was your day? Oh, I'm good, nothing going on. Yeah, I'm on the bus. Oh did you hear what Johnny did... etc." on said crowded bus, completely inappropriate and rude. I think I can speak for many others when I say, I dont care what Johnny did. That said, another inappropriate place to hold a cell conversation is in line for anything that will require interaction with a service individual such as at the bank or in checking out at the grocery store. By having a phone conversation while the clerk is trying to help you is disrespectful to the clerk and slows everyone else down.

OH and you know another place its not ok to have a cell phone conversation? The Subway sandwich line. That's right, you know who you are!

AMEN! Do not talk on the cell phone when checking out. As someone that's working in a toy store this summer between school years, I've experienced this a couple times. I have no filter so I hope they know how rude I think that is. Grrrrr..
