The cat ate my breakfast, among other things...

Now that I have a blog, there are so many times each day when I think to myself, "ohh that would make a good post!" So until I figure out how to cull my blogging impulses and settle on a more narrow area, I'm going to make a list of a few of my "ohh" moments...bare with me!

1. This morning I actually saw a man use a pay phone! Since the proliferation of everyone from 7 to 107 owning cell phones, its easy to forget that people actually used to use pay phones. However, there is no way you'd catch me using one without first clorox-wiping the you know what out of it!

2. The cat ate my breakfast. No, seriously. I poured a delicious bowl of total with fresh blueberries and milk. I put the bowl down to turn on my computer and turned around to find Georgie eating fresh from the farm stand blueberries!! Naturally I decided this was a sign I should treat myself to a bagel sandwich as I was too fed up to pour another bowl of cereal.

3. My wonderful husband showed my how to use our new coffee maker! Since finding out I am preggers, I've cut out the caffeine. Cold turkey. You can only imagine what this does to a grad student. So in the hopes of sparking some caffeine-memory, I've turned to decaf just for the taste of coffee. Here's the problem: iced decaf coffee is impossible to find... neither starbucks nor dunkin donuts serve it. WTF?! These two coffee giants are the leaders in commercial coffee, but they cant seem to understand how to pour decaf coffee over a cup of ice. Well, problem solved! As a wedding present, we were given a super nice coffee maker so now I can make decaf at home and keep in the fridge for whenever my heart desires!

4. Fridays are my new favorite day, but not for all the common reasons... The ING Direct cafe gives away free coffee or muffins/treats on Fridays if you wear orange. I own 2 orange shirts and rotate them every other Friday. Coincidently, ING DOES serve iced decaf. SCORE!!

5. Coupons, my new obsession!! My husband and I are poor grad students with a baby on the way. In an effort to save money I have become a coupon clipping fiend! My grocery shopping list is invariably altered by what is on bonus buy each week, I buy almost exclusively generic, and I signed up for this great website: coupons.com It's even become a friendly competition between my husband and I to see who can get more money off with our bonus cards... so far we've managed to save around $25 on an $80 shopping bill. Not too shabby!

6. Baby Aidan (or Aiden... cast your vote!) has started kicking me sooo hard he wakes me up at night. Listen, kid... if this is your way of getting me ready for your rapidly approaching arrival, mom would appreciate the sleep now, knowing its going to be a long time before I sleep through the night again. Despite the sleeplessness... fun pregnancy side-effects are really kicking in a la my persistently swollen feet and an outie belly button that has until recently, been for the last 24 years, an innie! All in all though, I cant complain cause I can't wait to meet this little guy!!

I like the new look! Can you give the running blog a make over in all your spare time? :)
