No, its not my birthday today, but it will be in a few days and as I've been making my "to do" list with errands and laundry on it, I realized one of the items is to pick up a birthday cake. for myself. Now, I think this is kinda funny and yet so practical, even though I recognize it is a bit absurd. I mean, who buys their own birthday cakes? Let me tell you, the wife of a medical resident who consistently puts in over 80hrs a week in the hospital.I'm also kinda type A and very picky about my cakes. I waffle each year between the classic Funfetti and a Baskin Robbins Ice cream cake. This year I'll be going with the BR cake. I LOVE those! I think I'm even going to have them write "Happy Birthday Jenna!" on it just because I can.
I'm quite happy with this arrangement actually because one year I got a cake that wasn't what I wanted AT ALL. Now, lest I sound like a spoiled brat, when you give someone a gift it should be something they want, not what you want to give them, right? I'll let you make your own assumptions from there. So this year, I get to pick out the cake, the flavor and the color my name is written in. And I'm going to love every second of it!! :)
ps. Dr. F did get me a present on his own, so don't think too poorly of him, I dont! :)
