Last night was I sooo tired and decided I didn't want to pack my lunch the night before. Since I've started working again I have been packing 3 lunches and making dinner the night before so the next day is as easy as it can be. I'll totally admit to being more than a little type A (exhibit a: the wipe board in our kitchen with our meals planned for the week). However, I just couldnt do it last night. It is HOT and we dont have AC in the kitchen and I still had a pile of ironing to do. Plus, PB&J sandwiches are gross the next day. I hate how the bread gets all soaked and mushy.
Well surprise surprise. I ran out of time this morning to make the damn sandwich. Not to mention the Little Man woke up with and obnoxiously runny/stuffy nose. UGHHH. He hasnt even been in daycare 2 full weeks and he's sick already!!! :( So I packed snacks and figured I'd just buy a sandwich.
Well, I dont know what I regret more, the ridiculously oily flatbread pizza I got (that I thought would be healthy because of all the veggies on it instead of the ceasar salad) or the $15 price tag. I went to a deli across from work but they wanted $10 for a sandwich and drink so I figured that if I'm going to pay that much I might as well get one of those delicious looking flatbreads from across the street. Who knew a diet coke would cost $2 and I'd have to tip because it was "sit down" lunch spot. NEVER AGAIN on either account.
So now I'm bummed about the exorbitant amount of calories I consumed, the $15 I spent, worried about the LM and his cold, not to mention his daily morning freak outs at daycare, and Dr. F's first month of internship with an excessive amount of call, the first day of which is on our anniversary. Bahhumbug. Hope youre having a better day!

Weekend Wrap-up, a few days late...
This weekend was pretty great, and not at all boring like I was afraid it might have been. We were super productive doing things like a Target run (oh target how i love thee!), grocery shopping, laundry, and unpacking a little bit more. I even went through some old clothes and now have 2 trash bags full to donate! This cleansing is pretty great. Of course, I had to try everything on just to make sure my pre-baby things fit again before giving them away :) I'm proud to say everything just about fit...I've finally accepted that even if my weight is the same, my hips will never go back to where they were, and that is ok.
To celebrate Father's Day we went out to lunch after church. It was only a semi disaster because the restaurant had high tables and only regular sized high chairs and no booster seats! UGHH. So the Little Man had to sit at the table like a big boy and we sat on either side of him in the booth to contain him. We really need to find a babysitter in our new neighborhood.... Continuing the celebration we spent some family time in the blow up pool and Mr. F grilled out. The best Father's Day gift was Aidan sleeping until 8am Saturday AND Sunday! We recently purchased a video monitor and LOVE LOVE LOVE it! He woke up at his normal time of 6:30 but I was able to keep an eye on him for 5 min and watched him lay back down and go back to sleep. HOORAY! He also has much better pronunciation now than he did a month ago:
Aidan has also started saying 3 word phrases! Last night at dinner he said, "Soccer, goal, yes!!" Clearly he and his daddy have been bonding over some world cup action. And perhaps more excitingly for me, we broke out the baby potty chair yesterday. Aidan has started to tell us "PEE!" and then makes a bee line for the bathroom. I don't know if he's really getting it, but I'm happy to be moving towards big boy pants any way possible!
So now I'm half way through my second week of work, and its hot as hell outside. And I have to wear business professional... ughhh.

Not a fun morning
This morning was my first day dropping the Little Man off at his new daycare because Mr. F starts orientation. It was stressful worrying about getting everything together...packing 3 lunches, getting us out the door in one piece and praying I'd get a parking spot at the train station. Yet, the worst part of this morning BY FAR was leaving the little guy. He clung to me and cried like crazy. He hardly ever cries and is usually really happy. But this morning, my heart broke. I could hear his screams outside of his classroom with the door closed. I feel sick to my stomach and I'm going to call daycare now to make sure he's ok. :(

Friday Musings
Hooray! Its Friday!!
I did it, I survived my week of work :) You know what though, there was never a point this week when I was nervous. Not even a little. I don't know if its because I've gotten older and this is basically a job I've done before or if I'm so much more confident having finished grad school, started a family, bought a house and balanced it all...what ever the case, I'm not nervous and its great.
As the week draws to a close I've been feeling pretty pensive, maybe because I've had time to catch up with my friends' blogs, all of whom write more elegantly than I. exhibit a: Belle in Heels or maybe because for the first time in a loooong time I've been able to sit quietly and reflect on the last crazy few months/years. I can't believe how much we've accomplished and as I was thinking about this coming weekend, realizing we don't have anything but a Target run planned, I think we're going to be bored! So consider this your invitation to Philly! We love having friends over and now even have a guest room and a grill. What more could you need?
This week was even productive in setting up our house. I installed 3 AC units, hung a dressing mirror and our memory foam mattress topper arrived. I've never slept better! Also, last night we ordered our new platform bed! The house was built in 1939 so getting a queen sized box spring up the stairs wasn't happening. After much debate (and yes our mattress is still on the floor) we went with this beauty:
We chose this one because we can eventually order matching nightstands and dressers and we're pretty pumped. Real, adult, furniture :) YES!!
Anyway, happy Friday. I hope everyone has a great weekend and GO USA!!

Confessions of a Shopaholic
Well, not really, but yesterday I got to spend 2.5 hrs in Macy's without trying to rush, wrangle a little man, and just stare wishfully at all the pretty clothes. My new job has a strict business professional dress-code. Not a big deal, I went to Catholic school so a uniform doesnt bother me. However, I have been staying home with a munchkin/going to grad school etc the last 3 yrs and I'm pretty sure tank tops and jeans wont cut it. So, Mr. F watched Aidan allll day yesterday (he doesnt start full time till next week) and then encouraged me to go shopping after work. It was AWESOME. I tried on so many clothes and hit some great sales. I was super conscious to buy pieces that not only mix and match but could do double duty ex. a cute shirt that works under a suite or with jeans for a date night. When I got home Mr. F even sat through a fashion show. He knows that as repayment he'll get to watch Game 7 tonight uninterrupted :)
I usually hate shopping (thank you post baby body that seems to finally be settling back to normal) and we havent exactly had much money to buy any new things and when we did shop it was for the Little Man or Mr. F since all of his stuff burned in a fire just before we got married. Finally it was my turn! I think the biggest victory was a new pair of decent dress shoes that will look awesome with jeans too...and they are kitten heels so I wont kill myself in heels all day. They were originally $60, but I got them for $20! Hooray! They look something like this without being so obnoxiously gold
Now here is the bad news... the dam has been broken and I am dying to go back for more! I'll just have sit tight for a bit and strategize about what next to buy :)

New beginnings
Well I knew it had to come to an end eventually...my tenure as a stay-at-home mom has drawn to a close...at least for the immediate future as I had my first day at work yesterday. I am having so many mixed emotions about the whole thing, and much to my surprise, Mr. F admitted to having mixed emotions too. I think he's enjoyed being spoiled with having dinner ready every night for the past 3/4 of a year. Don't get me wrong, I'm so grateful to have a job with the most amazing benefits package you can dream of. I'm even typing this post on my work issued lap top that we are allowed/encouraged to take home for personal use! Holy Cow! There are so many pros and cons to me working full time so I'm just going to make a list:
Pros
1. extra income to pay my exorbitant student loans...ughhh
2. adult interaction! wahoo!!
3. some intellectual engagement other than reading My Car ad naseum
4. doing something for just me
5. cutting down on utility bills by not being home to run ac units
Cons
1. Little man in day care...at times for 11 hrs a day depending on Dr. F's schedule (mine wont change and the trains schedule means I have to leave extra early)
2. Feeling so cramped for time at the end of each day when the few hours at home are spent preparing for the next day (did I mention we arent totally settled in our house? I mean thank goodness for the basement cause that's where EVERYTHING is right now)
3. Although I am sure daycare is a good one (we looked at ALOT), its still someone else taking care of my baby. Let the mommy guilt begin. I just feel like I wont be able to do it all from keeping the kind of home I want to giving Aidan lots of attention....alas, the plight of the working mother.
Finally I know this isnt the most cheerful post so I'll end on a high note. It may not be the beach, but this $10 blow up Target pool was such a hit. This kid has water in his veins for sure!
