I hate cell phones. Ok, thats not entirely true. I hate cell phone companies and the virtual racket they are running. For instance, what is the point of making a phone that has wifi capabilities but requiring a data package subscription for internet access that is $30/mo? ARGHHH.
So, I'm up for a new phone upgrade (I have been since March!), and I'd really like one that has a full keyboard and wifi capablity. However, I can under no circumstances accept that my bill will be the total of our utility bills combined for a month.
Well, I started thinking, what about buying an unlocked phone? I could buy a wifi capable phone and just put my sim card in it. Unfortunately those phones are so expensive and I cant come up with $200-300 to blow on a phone. I think I'm just going to suck it up and keep my phone that is in perfectly good working order and hold out hope that maybe I'll get the wifi capable iTouch for my birthday...in 10 mos.
Any ideas?

i bought a phone off ebay when I lost my phone earlier in the year. It's been ok, but I'm not sure I'd do it again. There isn't much recourse if the phone craps out on you and I have def had the buttons stop working for a few days twice now. It's a pretty basic phone though, no bells and whistles.
I did how every buy a refurbished iPod from the Apple store and that has been a good experience. It's an 8g and was about half the cost of the new one. Do they have refurb'd iphones available yet from Apple?
